The 2009 vintage saw our winemaking team excited about the new upgrades to the cellar and the opportunity to improve on recent success.

The 2010 Crabtree Bay Of Biscay Rose` is produced from the Crabtree Estate 1946 planted Grenache vineyard block and our neighbours, the Bryksy family’s, 1968 planted vineyard. Both vineyards are situated in the heart of the Watervale district in the Clare Valley.
Our vineyard is known as the “Bay Of Biscay” vineyard due to the soil type being of that name. Bay of Biscay soil is a heavy sticky, black clay that holds moisture well. Not ideal for red wine making but ideal for our Rose`.
The fruit was hand picked, sorted and retained on skins for 48 hours to ensure full flavour and complexity. With a component naturally fermented in older French oak to support the cool ferment in tank, this Rose` shows lifted aromatics of strawberry and floral spice. With layers of red berry flavour and juicy fresh acidity, the palate is vibrant and refreshing.
This “off dry” style of Grenache Rose` is ideal with Chinese Yum Cha or hot grilled tuna steaks and tomato salsa.
