The 2010 Crabtree Hilltop Riesling is produced from our estate grown fruit in the very heart of the famed Watervale sub region of the Clare Valley. The fruit was handpicked from the Crabtree Hilltop Vineyard set high on the ridge overlooking the village of Watervale. The fruit was carefully selected to retain the freshness and punchy citrus fruit flavour that is the hallmark of the district. The 2011 vintage was a very cool and slow growing season turning difficult during peak ripening due to a series of rain events. The majority of the Crabtree Estate Riesling crop was picked prior to the most severe weather. Our Hilltop Vineyard Riesling shows lively and lifted tropical fruit aromas followed by blossom and dried herb flavours, finishing with delicate bath powder acidity. The fruit was hand picked and carefully selected to retain the freshness and punchy citrus fruit flavours for which Watervale is famous. The wine was cold fermented utilising free run juices only, with no pressings in the final blend. This elegant Riesling can be enjoyed young and fresh or cellared carefully for 6-8 years. Sealed with a screwcap to ensure integrity of product, enjoy this wine slightly chilled. Serve with spicy Thai dishes or fresh King George Whiting fillets pan fried.
